International Women’s Day

Yesterday we held a private viewing for the women who participated in the project and their families. It was a deeply moving and heartwarming moment to see them encounter the work and celebrate what has been created together.

This exhibition was developed during a residency @coventry_cathedral with local women survivors of domestic abuse. In one-to-one sessions, stories were shared, witnessed, and translated into glass.

International Women’s Day is a time to celebrate women’s rights but also to acknowledge the realities many women continue to live with.

Abuse often happens behind closed doors, and its impact rarely ends when the violence stops. Many survivors face post-separation abuse and, too often, institutional failures that deepen the harm. The effects of trauma and PTSD can last for years.

Real change begins with listening.
Believing survivors.
Supporting them.
And with accountability.
Perpetrators are often charismatic, admired, and trusted by many but charm and reputation are not measures of character. If we are serious about change, we must stop excusing abuse and hold people responsible for their actions.

This work is part of that conversation.

Grateful to @coventry_cathedral_events, @coventryhaven22, and @bullseyeglass for their collaboration and support.
