From the Ground Up

From the Ground Up delivers community art workshops to involve people in creative engagement with materials. These are for everyone, particularly for those who usually don’t have access to the arts due to low income or marginalisation including vulnerable adults and children . Working in collaboration with different artists and makers, From the Ground Up rolls out a programme of diverse workshops for different community groups, setting the basis for the creation of a non-for-profit organisation that shares the love of art making with people, whilst providing work opportunities for art students and art practitioners.

This series of workshops is designed for survivors of domestic abuse. Working from shards of glass the participants will create new objects that not only reflect and refract the light but also their own experiences as survivors. Roberta will explore how the material qualities of glass can be used to reconstruct, repair and heal the fragmented self. This project was awarded the Student Initiated Project Prize 2019 at City & Guilds of London Art School .

All programmes for 2020 suspended due to Covid19.
